Description
The Brazilian Ministry of Labour specifies that professionals that are required to work the shipbuilding industry must comply with regulation number 34 (NR-34) and complete Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Safety Training as outlined in the regulation. NR-34 addresses the safety and precautions involved with ship construction and repair.
Shipbuilding and repair activities are all those involved within the facilities used for this purpose or in their own vessels and structures such as ships, boats and fixed or floating platforms, among others.
NOTE: The course lectures, handouts and workbook are all in Portuguese. The training provided is in accordance with international standards as required by the IMO in the STCW convention; however it is tailored to the requirements set out by the Brazilian Maritime Authority.
Target Audience
Workers that are directly involved in the construction, repairs and maintenance of ships and vessels working in shupyards. Offshore Companies and the International Maritime Organization also require that all workers who wish to work aboard ships and rigs obtain the Basic Safety Training (BST).

Approval
The student must have:
• Minimum attendance of 90% of all classes;
• Satisfactory performance in practical classes;
• Grade equal to or greater than 6.0 (six) on a scale of 0 to 10 in theoretical evaluation.
Certificate
At the end of training, SHELTER issue a certificate containing the employee’s name, curriculum, hours, date, location of the training, name and qualifications of instructors and signature of authorized person. This certificate is recognized by the Brazilian Authorities (Ministry of Labour) and has a validity of 2 years.
