Description
The Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET) prepares the students for any emergencies that may occur with flights over the water. Participants are instructed on how to exit the aircraft safely in the unlikely event of a water landing.
In Brazil, the HUET training is not a standardized training and it is not regulated by any official agency or government body. It is not a compulsory course, however it is required by most offshore companies operating in Brazil. Since it is a non-regulated training and does not require official approval in Brazil, it is often offered as a “package” along with the Basic Safety Training (BST), creating a course similar to the BOSIET.
SHELTER offers 2 types of HUET courses: basic and advanced. The basic course is often packaged together with the BST. It has a simpler module and the training standards are not as strict. The advanced training is done in an automatic simulator and the training is at the same level as the OPITO course. Since the Brazilian Authority does not impose any requirements most people opt for the basic course, but professionals that need to work overseas might need the advanced course.
NOTE: The course lectures, handouts and workbook are all in Portuguese. The training provided is in accordance with international standards as required by the IMO in the STCW convention; however it is tailored to the requirements set out by the Brazilian Maritime Authority.
