Description
SHELTER offers the Aircraft Manoeuvre and Firefighting Course, known as EMCIA in Brazil. This course is similar to the Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Course but with specific training for offshore vessels and helicopter landings.
Since the offshore oil rigs are now further away from land, it has become routine to transport personnel by helicopter, hence making it essential to have a manoeuver team that is ready to act in the most effective manner in case of an unlikely emergency.
In Brazil this team comprises of Take-off and Landing Agents, called ALPHs, and Aviation Firefighters, called BOMBAVs.
After completing the course, the professional may perform helicopter landing and take-off tasks aboard platforms, ships and places have helipads and practice operation of aircraft in onshore and offshore environment.
