DPC - Diretoria de Portos e CostasDiretoria de Portos e Costas – DPC

The Brazilian Port Authority, Diretoria de Portos e Costas (DPC), is responsible for accrediting companies maritime safety and security training courses. Courses such as BST, STCW, SSA and courses seafarers, such as SSO, CSO and DSD are approved by the DPC. Some of these courses are mandatory for boarding vessels in Brazilian waters.

International Maritime Organization – IMOInternational Maritime Organization – IMO

The International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW), 1978, as amended, establishes standards of competence for seafarers internationally.

In order to assist in the uniform interpretation of the STCW Convention, the IMO agreed on a number of clarifications on the provisions of the Convention and also developed new guidelines to assist participants in fulfilling the obligations of the Convention.

For global marine training institutes, IMO has also developed a series of model courses that provide proposed programs, course schedules and learning objectives to assist instructors in developing training programs to meet STCW standards for seafarers.

The Brazilian Maritime Authority, the Brazilian Navy, follows these standards. Courses homologated by the Navy through the DPC are internationally recognized.

The Centro de Sinalização Náutica Almirante Moraes Rego – CAMR is the technical institution responsible for the Nautical Signalling in Brazil and thanks to this activity, we have contributed to the Navigation Safety in Brazilian Jurisdictional Waters, where most of the commercial transactions of our country occur.

With the increase in the demand for water transport, CAMR has been committed to improving the safety of navigation within its area of activity, and is responsible for the regulation of the VTS (Vessel Traffic Service).

The VTS is an electronic navigation aid, capable of providing active monitoring of vessel traffic, whose purpose is to increase the safety of human life at sea, safety of navigation and protection of the environment in areas where there is intense movement of vessels or risk of a major accident.

International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities – IALAInternational Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities – IALA

IALA is an international non-profit technical association. Founded in 1957, it brings maritime companies together with shipping authorities, manufacturers, consultants and scientific and training institutes from all over the world and offers them the opportunity to exchange and compare their experiences and activities.

The VTS Committee is responsible for all aspects of VTS, including the increasing role of vessel traffic monitoring for safety and maritime protection and environmental protection.

The committee develops and reviews all IALA documentation related to VTS training and accredits international institutions for VTS training.

Conselho Regional de Engenharia e Agronomia – CREA-RJ

The Regional Councils of Engineering and Agronomy, Conselhos regionais de Engenharia e Agronomia (CREA),  are entities belonging to the state sphere and constitute the regional manifestation of the Federal Council of Engineering and Agronomy (CONFEA), being responsible for the inspection of the professions of the technological area in the regional scope.

CREA plays the role of first and second instance, verifying, guiding and supervising the profession with the mission of defending society from the illegal practice of the activities covered in the CONFEA / CREA system.
